Last night as the sun was setting
The Spirit gave me the gift of witnessing light in its many colors.
Yellow, orange, reds,
Leaves radiate against blue sky, wind chanting.
I felt joy in my soul
and laughter in my heart.

Poustinia

Poustinia is a Russian word meaning “desert place,” and is a small, sparsely furnished cabin where one may go to pray and listen in the silence for the ways Spirit may speak to the heart. Poustinia is a practice of leaving the noise and harried pace of life to enter into a place of silence and solitude.

MorningStar’s Poustinia is a small one-person cozy space, perfect for a quiet time of prayer, reflection, or simply being. The large picture window looks out over a forest of maples, red pine, and spruce. Amenities include gas lamps, a wood stove (wood provided), two-burner cook top, spacious screened-in porch, and a new composting outhouse.  A cooler and water are provided.
